  • Yep! I was taking a hike in the mountains (Colorado) near dusk and heard a cougar scream! Creepy!
  • I hear an owl outside my house almost every night. I get a whole parliament of them some nights. And if it isn't them then it is the coyotes. They don't bother me but the coyotes bother my dogs.
  • Owls actually creep me out. I heard one the other night by my bedroom window and it gave me the chills lol. I don't know why, but the way they sound is just creepy, especially when it is dark and late at night.
  • We have a few panthers around and they scream and that is scary and creepy -- + up
  • Stupid deer keep walking around out back and munch on something in the bushes, sounds like a prowler trying to get in
  • Twice. Once was a Coyote..made the hair stand up on the back of my neck...And then once I Was trying to sleep in a basement room and I happend to glance out the window and saw two eyes staring at me...I jumped up ran screaming out of the room into my fiance's room, woke him up and he went outside to investiage (Against my desire, I seriously thought it was a mass murderer) and come to find out it was a family of raccoons. They freak me out still.
  • I heard what sounded like a scream in the woods, while I was walking in a field one night. Don't know what animal that was. About the owl....today I heard 2 Great Horned Owls hooting at each other.
  • Dick Cheney creeped the sh*t out of me and I'm pretty sure he wasn't "human".
  • We moved house to an ancient manor house in the country, and shortly after we moved there I was standing in the garden at twilight, and I heard a spine-tingling, hair-raising shriek, the shriek of an unquiet spirit that had died in absolute torment. My hair did literally stand on end. The following day I discovered that neighbours a short distance away had peacocks . . .
  • I used to have friends who had peacocks. They get up on the roof at night and scream for help! Really! They sound just like a woman being murdered and screaming for help! Pretty creepy! But you are lucky to have an owl so close! It's a good omen! :)
  • Yes. Some kind of bird early one summer morning. Really strange sounds, almost like a child screaming.
  • i heard a cow moaning in the middle of the night it must have been sick or dying it sounded like a huge motor with a voice
  • Yeah my mother in law! Mr Bill
  • I was home from college staying in my old room in the basement, went to sleep only to hear this rustling noise that in the window well. I was really tired and tried to ignore it, then the squealing and scratching started. I flicked on the light and there was the ugliest, nastiest looking possum trying to keep warm up against the glass. Uggh!! Gross! I banged on the glass and it just squealed even more but didn't budge. I tried to sleep but just couldn't knowing that creature was there and still making all sorts of noise. I ended up having to get a bucket and a broom to fetch it out of the window well and took it to the woods far away. Brutal!
  • Have you ever heard Coydogs howling? It sends shivers up your spine. We have them all around our house.
  • Yeah, the neighbor's wife screaming at her bratty kids
  • Elk calls are kind of strange.Owls are very interesting birds.
  • foxes make alot of noise where i live
  • YES,HUMAN BEINGS
  • Hearing a pack of coyotes in hunt mode is pretty wicked.
  • cool, owls are uncommon and eat varmints. their presence is a sign of a healthy environment.
  • My lady and our two dogs were camping out all alone by a lake in the Colorado mountains once when we heard three (3) different packs of Coyotes howling. We are at our campfire when we notice that all three packs are getting closer and closer. Concerned that they are getting too close, I went back to my ancestoral Cherokee heritage to "talk coyote" to them and howled back at them saying, "If you come any closer, I am going to chase you down and I am going to kill you and eat you" and with that ALL THREE PACKS OF COYOTES FELL SILENT! I mean there was not a noise anywhere. I don't know if I really "said that" to them or if they used that time to sneak a little bit closer, but we didn't hear another howl out of anyone the rest of the night. True story!
  • Whippoorwills. They have always sounded spooky to me. but the worst is the panthers in the woods behind my house. No, they are not actually panthers, but cougars or something similiar, the "old folks" just called them panthers. When they roar, or whatever they do, it sounds just like a woman screaming bloody murder. Very unsettling.
  • mice :l
  • Yes. I was sleeping in the back of my husbands little truck about 12 years ago. We were deer hunting out in the middle of the woods when I awoke with a jolt and the hair on the back of my neck was standing straight up and I was really freaked out. It was a bear making a mean growling noise a few feet away from us. I never slept out in the open like that again.
  • I hate it when cats moan and they sound like they're talking. It sounds like the devil! One time it sounded like it was saying hello.
  • we were hiking last summer and came across a set of rattle snakes - that sound is on I do not want to hear again
  • Loons make a sound that is an awful lot like a woman screaming. If you've never heard it it can be quite a jolt the first time. I have wild turkeys at my place and when a whole flock comes in it can be a pretty crazy sound.
  • I use to hear something around the area I live in but I never knew what it was! That use to creep me out.
  • yup. i have possums living right outside my window, which i usually keep open. i had no idea what was making that hissing/screeching noise till i had the guts to take a look and see that it was a baby possum :P
