I often examine coax cable. This type is used for radio, video, and data transmission. Using an oscilloscope and time domain reflectometer (TDR), I can determine the cable length, quality, and problems. This is done by comparing a signal going in, to one reflected back; usually a difference of nano-seconds. An interesting fact: light travels at eleven point eight inches per nano-second.
