Scientology has been banned in several countries, at least during certain parts of its history.

In 2000, France debated dissolving Scientology as a religion.

In 1999, Scientology lost its charity status in Britian.

In 1997, Scientology was banned in Greece.

Scientologists are banned from political parties and many types of artistic performances in Germany.

    Of course not.

In fact, the Church has received numerous recognitions, citations and validations from various governments for contributions to society in the fields of education, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, crime reduction, human rights, raising moral values and a host of other fields.

In countries where change scares the government, or in some cases, the religious extablishment--or in many cases--where the psychiatric profession influences people in government, laws have been passed against Scientology.

But, Germany to the contrary, not all judges are blind to facts. In April 2007, a high Russian court reversed a ban by the city of Moscow on Scientology regitering its church there. The court simply cited the Russian Constitution. Germany and the few others with remaining restrictions should do the same.

So progress is being made, but religious oppression of the Scientology religion has not been fully conquered.

Now as I understand Scientology the younger a sexual partner you have, the better of your theatons become. So sex with underage people is illegal so I guess you could say there are laws against the "practice" of scientology. But really who needs a religion where your status is based on how much money you pour into the church?
