It's not necessarily a problem -- old wooden floors creak and transmit shocks around to the walls, it doesn't mean they're in danger of collapsing. But it's always nice to know what's going on, of course... and a contractor could help you with that. A structural engineer would be a better choice for an expert opinion -- someone who is less likely to try to sell you something, has more training, and also charges more money for his opinion.
