I was about to download a video on my Toshiba laptop when my computer shutdown. I need to update my driver. How should I do this?

My power supply stopped working after I tried to scan with my new color laser printer on. Both heavy power users. I checked and am sure the PSU is bad. I installed a new PSU and everything powers up but I can't get a picture. Tried resetting the BIOS.

You're reading My pc just refuses to power up every morning. It requires the main power supply to be left on for at least 5 mins before it is capable of powering up. Is there something wrong with the power unit?

I've seen multiple power supplies, though it's rare in a consumer desktop. I've been known to double up myself at least temporarily. Sometimes you just cram too much in the case for any P/S you have on hand to handle but need to be up and running before you can get your hands on that 600-1000W monster supply.

That's why I said *desktop* computer. I have a Dell server on my computer rack next to me and it has dual power supplies, but it is not a desktop. Also, many 4u and 8u server cases have 2 supplies, but again, that is why I said desktop.

Again, it's rare but not unheard of. For all I know, Anon has a Frankenbox.

I would be interested in some links to some non-server cases that allow 2 power supplies if you would. I have never seen one. I'm not speaking of a Frankenbox either.

No Frankenboxes? No deal. And when I did it, the second P/S wasn't inside the case.

Ok, well that's what I meant. Of course with a custom computer you can add 20 power supplies if you want. You mentioned you had seen it in a consumer desktop, which to me means factory built. I'm certainly not going to say you are wrong, but I honest to god have never, ever seen that. I think it is a good idea, but it's kind of like the average computer having RAID. Not necessary. Something recently that I found VERY strange was a Dell workstation computer I was given at work that has NO PS/2 ports, only USB. That was the first tower or desktop I have ever seen without PS/2 ports.

Nonono. I didn't mean to imply that I'd seen it in any stock, name-brand PC, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression.
My point is that I have seen all sorts of weird configurations out there that I have a hard time making preconceptions about any particular system.
You are 250% correct in asking for more details.
