In the 1920s, conservative tax policies heavily favored the rich and drove income disparity to the point that the middle class was ultimately unable to spend. Have we just done it all over again?

    So it certainly seems, my friend. I've lived paycheck to paycheck for ages now. And jobs are shaky everywhere! I'm keeping my hopes up that some big changes are coming soon....

    Not remotely. If that is the case take a look around as see how many "middle class" people are walking around with the latest cell phones, have video games, Ipods, drive new cars, and buy 5 dollar coffees at Starbucks. What you are talking about in the 20's is not the same situation when you start talking about the inability to purchase groceries and basic clothing needs, then we can say we are in the same situation.

    This time the middle class was openly attacked. The trickle-down neo-cons wanted America to be economically rebuilt on the Brazil model, with themselves on top. Thank god enough voters began to realize the direction was all wrong. One of the ways 2008 is different than 1929 is that this time the government was covertly (or thought they were covertly) responsible.
