I'm undecided whether to buy my nine year son a ps3 or a wii. Anyone who has either, which would you say is the better console?

Get a Wii, it is more interactive and there are heaps more multiplayer gmaes. Even when he gets older the motion sensor is a revolution for shooting games. A PS3 is an entertainment consloe you can play movies and upload photos and do alot of things that a kid would not use. You could also get a Wii Preowwned, there are nothing wrong with preowned consoles or games

the ps3 is pretty fun and probably has better graphics but the wii is nintendo and nintendo is awesome. and it is like exercise and so its fun too. get him the wii.

i dont have either but i would get him a wii if you had to get him one of them b/c it actually gets him involved with the game.

A wii without a doubt, especially for a 9 year old.

The wii provides a more active gaming experience. You can play baseball and actually swing the bat. The PS3 does not have this sort of innovation.

I have played both, but don't own either. For a kid his age, a wii would be best. The wii is not focused on graphics, like the ps3, but for fun for the whole family. But be warned: If you lose the strap or it breaks, the wii remote can fly and break the T.V.

I have one, the 9 y/o and 11 y/o boys and the 13 y/o daughter all love to play it at times. Even after more than a year. There are great games for whatever you want to do. Kids love the action games and getting involved in the fantasy, I like simple time wasters. Though I did buy Zelda with it and played that. It took me six months to put in enough hours to beat the game but it was a blast!

I highly recommend the Wii.

ps3 is more cool, hardcore gamers games. wii is more childish and colorful, and interactive. i got ps3 all the way, but im 20... id say wii, but ask first... actaully wii is for kids but i STILL say get the ps3, its better...

ps3 is good, but a wii would probably be better. one can be more 'involved' in the games, like baseball, tennis, etc. there is more multiplayer games, and dont forget wii fit, etc.

A Wii has much more options to choose from family games. PS3 has mainly mature audience and intense gamers' games. Plus you get the movement from teh Wii that you can't get from the PS3. You have the Wii Fit for excersize, and games like Mario Party. At 9 years old you would have a better understanding at what maturity level your kid is at. If he can handle the intense games the PS3 will be better, the Wii may be too boring for him. But if you're still undecided, go with the Wii, it's over all better.

The games on WII are so so, My personal choice would be the XBox 360 or PS3, they both have many games that are suitable for a 9 YO and you can play games that are suitable for you when they're asleep...
