Help answer this question below.

My question- To anyone who may have any information would be this. I work as a Commision based HairStylist with a Salon that gave me a 1099 misc form. My problem is, is that I am not an Independant Contractor. What do I do? But, are claiming that I am.

    don't know what State you are in...Independent Contractor rules differ from State to State. As a hair stylist, you do have your own license, which is one of the conditions of being an independent. And you are probably using your own scissors, drapes, etc: another point for being independent.

    BUT are you working the hours they tell you? Are you subject to being fired? Take away points for being an independent.

    Best to call your local labor board or employment development department to point you to the right person to ask this.

    AND just how long have you worked for them and are just now asking about the 1099? didn't you wonder when there was no withholding, social security, etc taken from your check?
