  • You can buy insulating pipe wrap, you can leave your water running at a trickle when not there (it does not have to be hot... just running), you can even wrap the pipes in towels or blankets, duct taping them around the pipes.
  • It is not quite as cold here today. It has been very cold Tonitht we have heavy rain and gale force winds coming in for the weekend and another cold front next week.
  • I turn off the water to the outdoor faucets.
  • Overnight, and during the day too if it's down below 10F, leave the cold water running in a pencil-lead-thin stream on all faucets against an outside wall. Also leave the doors under the sink open so warmer air can circulate in there.
  • I keep the water running a little bit when it gets down into the single digits. Also leave the cabinet doors open so the warm air can circulate.
  • A couple of weeks ago we had lows in the high 20's..Jim turned on both the front and back outdoor faucets and let the water drip very very slowly all night. Nothing froze. Had he not done that, it probably still would have alright..but we just wanted to be sure. :)
