    ... nothing.

I am growing in a few whites and am not going to dye it even if I go all white.

My father went stark white haired after my mother's death and he did not dye it either. He wore his hair white out of tradition and to honor my mother.

It is not in the beliefs of my Clan to do things like that. Younger of us do do things like that but, in many ways, I was raised very old fashioned.

I'm letting mine grow out and I love it.

However, I have used different dyes in the past. Color Charm demi-permanent works very well and isn't as damaging as permanent color. I've also used henna. I've used permanent dyes and semi-permanent dyes.

The problem is that the ends evenutally become very porous and absorb lots of color no matter what product you use. It gets to the point where you could use a "blonde" color and it would turn out dark brown. It's like layering pigments in watercolor painting - they only become darker and they can never become lighter.

One could go to a hairdresser though to avoid this, if you don't mind paying $100 every 6 weeks or so.
