  • America does not have an empire. Edit: "The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished." - Mark Twain Like all nations, America will rise up and fall down.
  • I'm not sure "fall" would be the correct term. The way the world is heading it is more likely to merge with with other nations and become a world conglomerate with capitalsm as its credo.
  • It will Change, but I don't think it will "fall." Same with global warming, earth will change but not fall.
  • I would not refer to America as an empire even though some would strive to make it one. Let us start with one word. impermanence - the property of not existing for indefinitely long durations. All things past, present, and possibly future that are the works of men be they buildings, documents, cultures, religions or anything created by men are by nature impermanent. They will all go the way of the Dodo and the dinosaurs. When will it happen and how fast will it happen? That is entirely up to us.
  • America are not an empire per se in the traditional sense. What America does have in common with great empires is the conception of ingenious mechanisms to improve the standard of living. Modern capitalism and globalisation are American contributions to society. It is the Americams that are the stewards of the most successful economic model that delivers these improvements to socety. Dominance is acheived by one county's influence over another country's interest. I don't think America will fade like ancient empires because their dominance will continue to be prevalent in that all currencies around the globe are valued against the green back. A down turn in the American market translates into a ripple effect and a downturn for stakeholders in any capital. The only thing that I think America will "go down" for is history, taking democrasy to corners of the globe. The sad reality is that we must find peace through war...
  • in a few years time when china becomes more powerful than it
  • well, with national debt being a good 11 trillion, if not more by now....I dont really see how were gonna make it, anywhere...unless we tear it down and start all over...working with out hands again, learning how to live simple...and quit USING up everything.
  • It is gone as America is no longer ruled by Americans. American is now ruled by others.
  • once we get too greedy, as human greed was the reason the two aforementioned empires fell
