I have always loved the big guys, Flemish Giants. I love big rabbits like these. I used to raise them and we had a couple as pets indoors. And I also love French Lops. But we've raised many kinds of rabbits, mostly New Zealands (white and blues).

When did we start calling them rabbits as oppossed to hares.
.
Way, way back, i was taught in school that rabbits were primarily the bunies that live in the wild (there are exceptions) while domestic bunnies tend to be hares.
.
I believe hares have shorter ears and maybe there were some other differences.
.
We keep some hares but most are crosses. We have a pure bred California buck, but the rest are crosses.
