Help answer this question below.
Taking too much Tylenol Pm can be very bad for your liver, and cause long term effects that can be serious, and lead to liver failure. You need to speak to your dr. who can help you figure out why you can't sleep, and prescribe a safer sleeping aide need be.
G'day Emmarie,
Thank you for your question.
Tylenol has as its main ingredient is acetaminophen or paracetemol as it is known in Australia. It is relatively safe in recommended doses over a short period of time which is why you can buy it over the counter.
Overdoses of acetaminophen are serious and can be fatal from liver toxicity. If you are a heavy drinker the danger is worse. Early signs are nausea, vomiting and general malaise.
I would see a doctor for treatment for insomnia and to stop your consumption of painkillers. They are only for shortterm use.
I have attached sources for your reference.

50 pills a week is too many. You should see a doctor who can prescribe you something you need only take once a night, before bed if your insomnia is that bad.
Overdoing tylenol or any drug really is harmful to your liver.
Liver damage, and I think Kidney damage its best to call a pharmacist to ask..How many pills do you take in a night? Go to a sleep study doctor to see whats causing this insomnia, and they might be able to give you a stronger prescription, or even cure it!
Unfortunately, I have the same problem. I'm taking 4 tylenol PM per night and sometimes 2 antihystamine on top of it. Both are just so bad for our livers. in fact, on the bottle, the company cautions too much can damage your liver and to get it tested regularly.
I don't know about you, but I've tried Ambien and the other sleep medicine. I start to sleepwalk and sleep eat when I take those. I have an rx to take 2 ativan at night (4MG) but when I take that I have the same problem. More sleepwalking.
Thanks goodness AB is 24 hours a day. LOL
I take plain old diphenhydramine HCI which is the ingredient in tylenyolpm that makes you sleepy. I buy it at walmart 100 25mg. for $4. You have to look for it near the allergy medication and it is actually labeled allergy medication. I have been taking it for 10+ years. Lately, I average between 200-250mg a night. The med has lost most of its effectiveness for me, I assume because of how long I have been taking it. I've tried to research online the effects of long term use but haven't really found anything.
If you take all of those pills continuously you body IS going to start falling apart, especially, if you work it hard.
Everything you put into your body is filtered in the liver..you keep that habit up and you will destroy your liver..you only have one, and you need one to survive. :)

The PM part is an antihistamine. You are od'ing this too. Your sinuses could be drying out and exposing you to flues and sinus infections.
