Could the USA beat China in a war? No allies. 1 on 1

It's really a toss up. They are two of the biggest superpowers in the world. China definitely has the numbers, but america believe we have superior tech. I'd say it would probably depend on who started the war as well and gained the upper hand. At any rate, it would be really long, very gorey, and violent. Probably ending with the setting of nukes or the A and H bombs. Also, it would almost certainly end up as a total war as well becuase that is the most effective way to break a country, show no quarter.

The United states has by far the most powerful military in terms of technology and ability. We just released two of the new Reagan class battleships, which on a scenario battle managed to take out 2 carriers 3 battleships and 3 submarines in a 72 hour window. it carries 24 nuclear trident missles each with 22 tactical warheads with 400 times the kiloton weight of hiroshima. IT also has stealth technology which makes it almost invisible while having the striking power of 2540 miles with its on board missles. one of these bastards patrolling each of our coastal oceans could protect us from any fleet in the world. Just policing it like iraq would destroy us. the US has far superior technology and organization. We would knock out China's ability to communicate and their power grid within the first 24 hours. As far as nukes, China barely has any ICBMs that can reach the US. We could take out all of their major cities with sub based tactical nukes within hours.

No ... that would be a lose-lose scenario ... one that would hurt large portions of the world and not just those two nations ...

I would be a lose-lose either way. We depend on each other economically.

In an all out war we'd never win invading China. They'd never win invading us. They spend 1 dollar out of the 6 we spend on our military. They may have a larger force, but that doesn't make them more powerful. Their "cutting edge" technology has been heckled by our top commanders for being prone to error.

People think China is a superpower but the only real World Superpower is the United States. We maintain an empire of bases all around the world and our battleships are at a constant patrol along the borders of almost every region in the world. It's best if both counties stay out of a war. We all know that would end in utter annihilation.

I think so, but the shear numbers that China has may make it tough. If they ever attempted to invade, they would be dealing with an armed population and one with a lot of resources at it's disposal for sure.

In a war that would be sure to escalate to a nuclear exchange there are NO winners and we are all losers.

I think we would beat china... when the united states sees a stratigic move like china trying to cut trades and trying to change the value of our US dollar thats a not happening kind of thing also we have the most allies but if this is a 1 on one we would beat china remember we havent touched our natural recources while china is using all of theirs one day its eventually gonna end guess who their gonna buy it from? us and thats if we even want to sell it to them... as far as technology we do have better than china but china is catching up if they catch up completely we will be doomed in a war with them regardless of what we might have china has 3x population and army of the united states so on foot we would never beat china if this war was ever to happen it would simply be the end of the world in a nuclear war. which sucks so lets hope that day never comes.

put ObamASS and China's current head in an arena with clubs, no guns knives etc. let them battle it out instead of using army personal as canon fodder.

china would start by cutting off trade. america no longer has infrastructure to build stuff from scratch. our tech is higher but we would lose a war of atrician unless we start valuing production again instead of just executive "briliance"

I think that a war with china would just be so out of the question. There would be no chance for anyone to really win if we were to war with one another. American now a days are so liberal with how they want to fight trying to make something as savage as killing another human being, somewhat honorable. The truth is that if china were to start a war with America American's would soon change their ideas on proper warfare and the super missles would fall all over the earth, cause it wouldn't be just America and China. England, Korea, Thailand, and several other countries small and large would join in on the war and start a nuclear war. so although if China were to get us out of the way it would be better for them. But there country wouldn't would not recover for several generations making it pointless to go to war with us for the next several years

no, not really, US had just been in conflict in the middle east, and lost pretty many soldiers, plus their economy is shit now, so they have no money for weapons or new recruits. while China is having great success in economy and military power. its obvious that right now, china is the dominant military power. their have great technology,weapons, massive amount of soldiers. while US have, no money for technology,limited amount of weapons, and too few available soldiers... too be honest, in the end of the war, they both would had lost...

Let's see, we have Stealth Fighters, many submerines and pretty much the most powerfull weapons of war on Earth, but China has us outnumbered like hell. So, maybe. It's 50/50.

The problem with answering this is that both are in possession of nukes and even without allies this could be a WWIII so because of nukes nobody will win, both will get destroyed.However, without nuclear weapons it all comes down to location and which is more effective, Manpower or Tech.
The US has the technological advantage with more up to date weapons, more satellites in space for espionage, and military command but the Chinese would probably make a huge draft if a war begins enlisting millions of troops probably 4 times the US military but they have very old weapon models and bad military training due to the bad infrastructure of china. In the end i personally think it will come down to a draw.
