If they think being a southerner makes them special, then they deserve their false god.
"Southern by the grace of God" means that the people in the south feel like they are blessed or lucky to be there. Not that they are better than anyone else.
Religiousness is one of the stereotypes attached to southerners. I think they're just really proud of it.

That would certainly be interesting, considering there is no real definition of what geographical area the American South really is. I guess "God" really is the only one who knows.
Honestly though, I don't know why he would pick that region. Of all the regions in the world, there are much better choices, and I live in the South. I suppose God likes sugar in his grits too.
