Sure! As long as you don't mind being fired.
Try doing that with parents. Oh wait, that works with some parents. Well, it doesn't work with bosses.

No, he will take it as disrespect and probably fire you.
Talk to him, maybe he will see your side of the situation.

There was an article in our local paper this week about a guy that's being paid over $90,000 a year and is given no work to do. He says he's bored to death. Maybe you can apply for his job.

Are you salaried? That is, do they expect you to work uncompensated overtime?

You need to address this with your boss. Tell him/her that you will have to work overtime in order to complete your workload (this is only if you are willing to work overtime). If they say, go for it, ask what the overtime rate is. Make no bones about the fact you expect to be paid for overtime (unless you are salaried). If you are salaried, they may need to hire an additional employee. A person can only handle so much.

Of course. You can also avoid work by simply not showing up to work. And both these scenarios will cause you to be fired, so just not showing up seems to be your best option.

If you're that financially independent and/or can get a job anywhere, anytime in a bad economy that going to get even worse...sure...go for it! Perhaps you live on another planet, maybe?

If you want to get involuntarily terminated, then yes. If you want to keep your job, then no.

There are people out there that don't even have jobs are being laid off every day. You should be thankful and accept the work you are given.
