How do I calculate my GPA? (High School)

    normal classes
    A=4
    B=3
    C=2
    D=1
    F=0
    honors/ap classes
    A=5
    B=4
    C=3
    D=1
    F=0
    you add up the numbers and you then divide the total by how many classes you took and that is you GPA which stands for Grade Point Average. each grade is worth a certain amount of points. note that if you get above a 5.0 you probably did it wrong

    I found a website recently that helps you calculate your grade for free. It even figures out what you need to get on the final exam to get a certain grade in the course. It also can calculate your GPA for you. Here's the site: www.calculatemygrade.com
    It's helped me a bunch in the past - hope it's helpful to you too!

    How to Calculate Your GPA
    Your GPA is calculated as a combination of the total credit hours completed at UT and the number of grade
    points earned.
    Grade points are assigned as follows:
    A = 4 B = 3 C = 2 D = 1 F = 0
    To calculate number of points earned for a class: multiply the number of credit hours of the class by the number
    of points earned for the grade. Receiving an “A” in SOC 302 would therefore earn you 12 total points (3 credit
    hours X 4 points for an A).
    To calculate your cumulative GPA: take your total number of grade points earned and divide by the number of
    hours undertaken to date. For example: 216 points earned with 60 credit hours: 216 divided by 60 = 3.6 GPA.
    Transfer credit: the hours earned at other institutions count toward the 120 hours needed for graduation but are
    not included when computing your GPA as those hours do not count towards your UT GPA.
    To calculate how to acheive a 2.0 GPA (students on scholastic probation): multiply total credit hours by 2 and subtract
    from this total your total grade points. The remaining number is the number of hours of “B” credit (divide by 2 for
    “A” credit) you will need to earn to get a cumulative 2.0 GPA for the next semester, providing you receive at least
    a C in all other courses.
    To calculate how to achieve a 3.0 GPA: just multiply your credit hours by 3 and follow rest of above procedure. This
    shows you how many hours of “A” you will need, providing you receive at least “B” grades.
    For example:
    Susie has a 1.8 GPA after completing her first semester at UT (with 15 hours), and she needs a 2.0 to get off
    scholastic probation. She has earned 27 grade points. She multiplies 15 hrs X 2 = 30, then she subtracts 27 from
    her total of 30 to get 3. Therefore Susie knows she needs to earn 3 hours of “B” to get her 2.0 next semester.
    Susie takes 15 hours, and gets one 3hr B and four 3hr Cs, which equals 33 points. Then she would have 27 + 33
    grade points, which after 30 credit hours would equal a 2.0 GPA!!
    Calculate what you need to raise your GPA to a 2.0 (solve for D):
    A) Your current GPA = ___________ C) Total credit hours = ___________
    B) Total grade points = ___________ D) # of hours of “B” credit needed = ___________
    Step 1: C x 2 = Q
    Step 2: Q - B = D
    (divide D by 2 to find out how many hours of “A” credit you would need.)

    For regular classes A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1
    For Honors classes A=4.5 B=3.5 C=2.5 D=1.5
    For AP IB classes A=5 B=4 C=3 D=2
    you simply add up your grade numbers and divide by the amount of classes.
