Well that was one way to make an atheist like me read it. I went to :-
    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+139
    to get it.

As I had gone to all the effort of reading it and trying to understand it - I thought I might as well put my answer in - but obviously a Christian that knows his Bible will be much better to comment than me. (I'd be intereted to see how far my interpretation is out).

It seems to talk about the knowledge the person has that God is all around him and the knowledge that God has that that person beleives in him.
Also that those that do ont beleive in God, that person hates.
So basically its saying that the person is commited to God if his faith is tested it will be found not wanting.

So I wont take offense if comments say I got it wrong - as long as they say why I got it wrong. (And they will probably be more right than me).

“Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing, as regards the days when they were formed and there was not yet one among them.”—Psalm 139:16.

    God recognizes the unborn.

It is a hymn to God's omnipresence in the form of a meditation to which the psalmist ponders the truths that the Lord sees and knows him no matter where he might be.

I read this psalm as a lovesong to God. There is the sense of God permeating all of time and space and the whole being of the singer. It hurts to read the hatred/enemy part though. I would like to think it is just a way of promising to protect the beloved, but it seems to clash with the experience of love. In the ecstasy of knowing God's presence, how can the singer even imagine anyone who is separate from God? How could the singer feel anything but profound sadness for their unknowing.

Predestination. This Psalm usually comes up when discussing the question of whether or not we really have free will. Interpretations vary wildly as do opinions regarding the issue of proper translation.
