Sounds good to me, i might apply!
I live in australia and this job was advertised on the news and there is no catch, the reason they do this is to advertise the great barrier reef, in a person to person kind of way.
Well if you don't I will. There must be some sort of catch $150.000.00 a year to do what? Keep the pool clean, feed the fishes, talk to tourists (who are there to enjoy themselves anyway)and report to the tourist bereau. I'm to old, you go for it and I will come and work for you for a rent free cottage and maybe a cask of wine now and then.
It says:
"The Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef is a newly created position. There are a few minor tasks that need to be taken care of, but the most important duty is to report back to Tourism Queensland (and the world) and let us know what’s taking place on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef."
I think it's the "best job in the world" only if being close to nature is your thing. I mean, if you're a city person, for example, most likely you would not like a job that's far away from a big city.
It sounds like a dream job to me. I would love to apply, but I've read that they had over 200,000 applications already and so many people are applying that the web site crashed.
Something like 200,000 have already applied. The ad was in The Globe and Mail here in Canada. The pays pretty substantial for 6 months, works out to $123,000.00 Can$. I believe you're simply responsible for blogging about your experience.
