How do you ask someone out on a date that you barely know?

How about asking them out for a cup of coffee, tea, etc. Easy start, non threatening, great opportunit to get to know each other.

I'll return the favor for you answering my question. For someone you barely know, you absolutely have to do it in person.And just go to her and ask, "Hey want to *insert activity of choice here*?"

As if you already have plans for the night, casually invite the person to join you after a short conversation.

start up a conversation first, don't just go up to them and be all like "lets go out to dinner" or something to that effect. If they're easy to talk to and yo are truly interested in them THEN ask the out to coffee or bowling or a local sports event. If they don't really say anything interesting or you find you don't like them then keep looking.
