  • From what I have heard, yes it is actually about a real person. From what i understand, it is a suicide note that one of their fans wrote (Adam). I am not sure, but that is what i was told.
  • Yes I Hole Heartedly Agree it was A Suicide note from one of there fans his full name was Adam Matthew Parr Born 2-12-86 & Passed 10-1-03. Now this is also a really great ANTI-Suicide Song.. I believe the Used Adam as a great example that suicide solves nothing also the part where " I traced th chord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all" That part was about how Adam looked deep in his life and found nothing that he loved but this song was designed to start said then get better This song stands for me so much no one understands...
  • From Travis: "The story behind that is Mark read a letter someone sent him as an email, that a kid wrote before he committed suicide to his parents. We kind of got together and wrote this sad, slow song. It came out sadder than we ever thought it would, which is good too. Any song that moves you is good. Some people listen to it and go 'Wow, that's a real bum-out of a song.' But it's one of those things, a story of a kid not being happy in his life, crossed with us being really lonely on tour. At the end of it there's a better way out, there are better things to do than kill yourself." The simple answer is yes, on the website there is much more on it.. Although it is not about "Adam Matthew Parr who died on 10-1-03 (in an auto accident.)" and he died after the song was written, it is about a person named Adam. Adams song was released June 12, 2000, almost 3-years before the death of Adam Parr
  • i think this song is a based on one of thier fans commiting suicide but ... i dont think that person is Adam Matthew Parr b/c he died in 2003 and blink 182 made this song in 1999 R.I.P Adam Matthew Parr 2-12-86 to 10-1-03
  • Yeeah i know im saying something about this forever after it was posted.. but adam matthew parr.. was my friend and i used to be close to him back when.. and this song wasnt written about him althoughh i know he was a biggg fan of blink182. and his birthdate is 2-14-86 not 2-12-86 im just wondering if you guys actually knew him? and how you came to think it was written by him? my friends were confused so i decided to ask even though i dunno if you guys still come on here... just wondering! thanks! *rip adam. miss you dearly. over 2 years now.*
  • As far as I know It was one of Tom's good friends who comited suicide, and he wrote the song about it whether it's based on a letter or not I dont know. Johnethan SA Middelburg
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0Wl41pHQls apparently his name was 'adam krieger' ... :/ i dunno. its all really sad though..
  • Its about adam krieger. a boy who killed himself because he was tormented by his peers at his school and in his and personal life
  • what is the website?
  • adam krieger was a poor boy who was bullied at school , by the pupils and staff, he was neglegted and eventually he just couldn't handle it. He had tried to kill himself many times before, but his one true friend had managed to stop him. It is truelly ashame , and the people who caused this should feel ashamed.
  • The song was written for a boy called Adam Kreiger, not Adam Matthew Parr. Although both of these are tradigies, Adam Matthew did not commit suicide. I think, though I can not be sure, that he died in an accident of some kind in 2003. If I am wrong, please correct me. I would hate to make anyone who knew and loved Adam Matthew to think that I don't care if the details are wrong. R.I.P Adam Matthew Parr. xxx Adam Krieger commited suicide because of the isolation and torment he suffered while in school. Most people ignored him, and those who didn't made his life a living hell. He had tried commiting suicide three times before, but a good friend helped him. With out this friend, Adams life would've ended alot sooner. This really makes you see what difference one person can make to someones life. ONE PERSON. I know this because unfortunatly, a friend of a friend of mine committed suicide, and alothough I was not close with the person, I could see how much they needed to be part of something. If anyone knows anyone being bullied, say something. If you don't, you're as bad as the tormentors in many respects. Don't isolate someone because they're differnt. Embrace change and accept individualty. Please. "Why can't you accept the things that make other people different rather than insisting that everyone conforms to your will?" - Adam Krieger. R.I.P xxx
  • I know this is waaaaay late now but it's from a play, a kid took the suicide note out of it the spammed it to loads of email addresses, mark though it was a fan callin out for help so he wrote the song not knowing it wasn't a real person...AND the beginning quote is actually from tom not travis, it was said before they knew it wasn't true... From Travis: "The story behind that is Mark read a letter someone sent him as an email, that a kid wrote before he committed suicide to his parents. At the end of it there's a better way out, there are better things to do than kill yourself."
  • I don't know what to believe but it is a really good song anyway
  • it areal chiled and the web site of hes letter is: adamsletter.com this chiled suicide becus averybody laugh on heme
  • its a play!!! Adam Krieger's suicide note was a play for schools to open the eyes of the students and show them that how they treat each other can affect the lives of others and to think twice before you belittle, tease or generally bully people
  • It doesn´t mater, maybe Adam Krieger doesn´t exist but there are thousands os teens in the same situation wiht the same feelings, call him Adam Krieger, Mark Smith r what ever. It is a real history, it's real all over the world.
  • all these answers are good and everything, but all over the internet are diffrent answers. i heard that he was part f the columbine school shooting, anyone know anything about that??
  • no adams song was about suicide because a lot of poeple commited suicide
  • yes Adam Krieger is a real person. you can look up info about him. also, have you ever read Adam's suicide letter? http://www.adamsletter.com/ check it out
  • Wow... you guys are ridiculous. Adam's Letter IS a play, BUT it was written after the release of Adam's Song. The Blink 182 song is named after a skit from a sketch comedy show on HBO in the mid-90's. And this is not an internet rumor... it's the actual truth.
