It was an Indian man named Rabindranath Tagore, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. He was chiefly a poet, but wrote in most literary genres at some point. You can search for prize winners by year, nationality and subject at http://orange.sims.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/flamenco.cgi/nobel/Flamenco - I just went through the pictures from the beginning until I found a non-white one!
