Hello I have a 96 grand caravn es 3.8 . The airconditioner air compressor seized and the sepantine belt broke. Does anyone know if I can bypass the compressor with a smaller belt rather than a bypass pully

    Probably..but without seeing a diagram I really cant say for certain..if you can use a shorter belt without having a conflict with the other pully being in the way, you should be fine :)

    As far as I know, it would just depend on the routing of the new belt. I don't know off-hand for your specific vehicle. I did it as a short term fix on a computer controlled car once with no negative effect. If it looks like the routing will work, I don't see why you would have a problem. I would also ask at the place you are going to buy a belt from as they have probably heard of others doing it.
