Ok, i have an acting audition. I have to prepare a monologue that explores a character in a new environment, space or situation. any ideas?

G'day Dr Gonzo,

Thank you for your question.

I would put the character in a situation where he or she has just made a big decision such as:

* just starting a new job;
* just fallen in love;
* just brought a new home;
* just married;
* just divorced; and
* just started at school or university.

I would explore how he or she would feel in that situation and how would they express it.

Or as a contestant on "BEAUTY AND THE GEEK" where you are either or you dont let on which you are until the end.
I am stretching it here!

- The Beauty and the Geek show throws people into a mansion with what is considered the opposite of what they are. These people have to teach their opposites about life and how to be more like their opposite to show them how the other half lives. The "Beauty's" are usually stunned at their partners (the way they look and act is beneath them in their minds) and the Geeks are shocked at how pretty the girls are - albeit emptyheaded ( although some of the girls have shown smarts and ability to grasp complex ideas.)
