  • The water you see is most likely condensate, part of normal operation. It could also be a 'forced condensate drain line' as well, in which condensate is gathered in a pan in the interior unit and is pumped out through a pipe, but in those special cases you usually can hear the pump running occasionally. In that case, you could have a leak on the line. Generally you find these types of systems in houses which were built on a slab, and the central air put in post-construction. With central heat and air, you always have at least 2 lines running to the inside coil from the outside unit. Usually they are copper, but your case may be different (white usually indicates PVC, which is NOT a coil coolent supply line.) Condensate lines are almost always made of PVC, and usually are 1/2 inch in diameter or less. The one thing that is somewhat puzzling about your problem is if it is a standard condensate drain (no pump), it is usually the cold metal pipe which 'sweats', not the warm one.
