A lovestruck Romeo sang the streets a serenade Laying everybody low with a love song that he made Finds a streetlight, steps out of the shade and says something like, you and me babe, how about it?

Romeo is just using Juliet as a rebound girl after leaving Rosaline, he is playing by the chivalric code of love, and hence Juliet believes she is in love with the perfect man but its quiet clear that Romeo will say anything to get in her pants.

Dudes, we as the readers are suppossed to believe it was true love. I mean, Shakespeare only had 2 hours to do the whole play, so they couldn't have spent too long showing them together. Obviously, we as the readers KNOW that this probably is just 2 teenagers in love with the idea of being in love, but for the sake of the story, just go with it. Just assume that they are truely in love. That simple!

I have always thought it was more lust, you know, that DRAMATIC love "in love with love" that so many teenagers are inflicted with.
Either that, or they were both certifiably stupid.
To my way of thinking, the best way to mourn a passionate love would be to live to mourn it, honor it, and generally make the idiots who made it impossible to feel guilty for the rest of their miserable lives. I would think the best way to honor a love would be to work tirelessly to make a similar love POSSIBLE for the next hapless couple to fall in love "across enemy lines".
As it was, the pair had a tragedy, not a great love story.

Id say it was base on love- or at least that's what Shakespeare intended. Considering the severity of family ties in era, I doubt either would have risked being disowned and disinherited for lust.

Even if they did, I doubt Juliet would have taken her own life when she thought Romeo was dead if she only lusted after him.

Love for sure. Yes they moved fast but when it's real love you know. And it's obvious they found their match.
