I would think that if you released a tame fish into the wild, then you can surely count on your right hand how many minutes it has to survive. Seems to me that it would be lunch for other fish. It could survive given a chance, I guess. Would I release it to the wild? If I actually liked pet fish and had the money to get a bigger tank, then no. If I couldn't afford a bigger tank, then yes. Do I have fish? No. They tend to die on me, so I don't kill any by having something I can't seem to keep alive.

No. I would be worried that too much time spent in a small enclosure with food readily served up like clockwork and no predators would leave my fish ill-equipped to survive in the real world waters. I doubt I will ever have this problem, though, as I am pretty creeped out by fish in general.

No...it couldn't fend for itself. Take it to a pet shop and swap it for smaller ones.

Sure, new special on Fox would be "When Guppies go wild". Schools of rogue guppies attacking school buses and nursing home. Bowling alley wouldn't be safe (rogue guppies love to bowl). It would be the end of the world as we know it.
-
I'd cook it and eat it.
-
Depends on what kind of fish,, I might eat it.
-
I suppose it depends on how emotionally attached you are to the fish, because it would probably die.
-
Many creatures will only grow bigger if put in a bigger enclosure. This may not be true for all fish, but I know it's true for many reptiles. So you wouldn't even have to worry about them outgrowing their space.
-
Its a really bad idea to release any non-native species into the wild. There have been problems that have occurred from people doing that in the past. Usually you can get a pet store to take the fish for you.
-
No, I have fresh water tropicals and live next to Lake Superior. The water would be to cold!
-
Absolutely not. It's actually illegal, I used to work at a fish store so I know. You can sell them, give them away, or trade them in at a local pet store.
-
Regular outdoor water such as creek water, pond water, etc. would probably kill it anyway.
-
Never!!! It wont know how to get find and it will be eated by other bigger fish.
-
No, I have tropical fish, so if I just threw it into any old water, it would die without the proper heat it needs.
-
A local pet store will sometimes take it.
-
I don't think I would release any domestic animal into the wild. It's unlikely any of them would adapt.
-
Not a problem. Your fish will never get too big for its aquarium. You will need a bigger one only if you get more fish. If only humans as a species were programmed the same way!
-
No, that's how invasive fish species come to be.
