Audio Books almost any subject. They are the only thing that relax me enough to drop off to sleep.
-
mathematica logica, the title page should do it.

The title may sound bad, and I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence, but I'd recommend "Sleep Disorders for Dummies" because it will either help you fall asleep from boredom or you'll learn what to do to help you fall asleep. In either case, it sounds like a win-win.

The Dictionary.

"War and Peace"

Robert Jordan > Wheel of Time Series. Its a damn good story but some parts are so damn dry its ridiculous

GCOR - the General code of Operating Pratices for American Railroads. After reading for all of 10 minutes you'll fall asleep hoping you never awaken again in cause it wasn't just all a bad dream. That is one that will put you to sleep fast. If you want one with something to learn I would recommend Seeking Wisdom from Darwin to Munger by Peter Bevelin. Filled with lots of very insightful thoughts and quotes.

The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monserat!! Good read!
-
A text book. That will put you to sleep.

The best genre would be in the "Dull/Boring" category. That varies from person to person. For me it would be something like reading actuarial tables or how to drain a swamp or what the various birds are that birdwatchers watch and the differences among them. Anyone of those would freeze my brain and I'd be fast asleep before I'd read the first page! :)

I know some people will disagree with me, but I could never get in Moby Dick, fell asleep everytime I tried. Good luck!

"The 12th Planet (Earth Chronicles, No. 1)" by Zecharia Sitchin

Re-read Dicken's "A Tale of Two Cities" or any other book you know well. That way, you can go either way .. have it "lull you and relax you" because it's familiar .. or .. have it "keep you company" because it's an old friend. Works either way. For another option, I agree with Firebrand. Try listening to audio books. Lie down. Close your eyes. Don't put on nonfiction. Put on fiction. It's literally someone "telling you a story". Wonderful!!

My old Intro to International Relations textbook. Every single time I tried to read that thing, about a page into the reading I just fell asleep. I've never had a textbook do that to me before, or since.

restful sleep: the complete mind/body program for overcoming insomnia by deepak chopra or try some boring literature like when mother lets us make paper box furniture. finnegans wake by james joyce is another guaranteed sleeper ~ its unreadable!

The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. It may sound like a book for children but it's really not, it's calming and relaxing and maybe I'm the only type of person who enjoys it, but if you appreciate ancient thoughts, ideas and opinions on the happiest way to live, it's a good read.
