Help answer this question below.
If they are asking me to help build anything, they must be REALLY desperate. If they are going to ask me to use a hammer or nailgun...then they passed desperate and went to crazy. SO no. If that ever happens, i will provide the cookies and lemonade.
I am in the process of building a specialized library.
It is for my orgranization 'Green Trust' of which I am the Founder and Managing Trustee.
We want all books ever published on the subjects of Ecology and Environment collected and ready in the library for ready reference.
Also we are downloading and printing all that is available on the net free of copyrights. These will be categorized and bound into volumes.
We have also commissioned translators and writers to create new material for us to publish.
The library is one of our projects.
My high school Government Class teacher had his eye on a minor political job in my home town. The bicentennial celebration of the founding of city was coming up, and he decided that having a history of the city from it's earliest settlers forward would advance his causes.
He cut a deal with me that if I would research and write the history for him, he would give me an A for the year. All I had to do was LOOK like I was actually taking tests and exams, and I would get an A. Given my high moral standards at the time, I said YES!
It was actually a fascinating project. I went to the county courthouse, and looked up old deed records. I went through newspaper reports from over a hundred years ago. I visited old grave yards and found family names to research. And in the course of it, I got so interested in Civics and Government that I took every test and exam, and earned my A even though I didn't need to.
Will you go to a library in the near future?

Have you ever returned a library book to only have it still marked as not returned more than a week later? If so, what did you do about it?

You're reading Have you ever been asked to build (or help build) a specialized library of any kind? (perhaps for a club, organization, business, town, church, etc) Did you or would you?

Not to worry. Didn't mean it literally, so no hammers or nailguns required. (If that were not so? I'd be with you .. making lemonade) LOL
No, I meant building up the library as in "collection" .. ie all the books to build a specialize library for one of those organizations I listed.
I'd still like some of those cookies though! :)

make yourself clearer next time. Amazing how 1 question can be so misunderstood completely off the meaning. (I am REALLY depressed tonight ) so I am taking everything literally and not using not humor. Sorry I ate all the cookies.

I am just feeling like nobody cares what happens to me or if I live or die. My NEW home health agency I hired sent an aide who worked 3 days and quit and now they have got me just a different person every day. That upsets Scrappy and upsets me and it stresses me out to know that I am not even important enough to have a regular aid.

Plus there have been some things on AB said to me and others that we are scum and don't deserve to live because we are poor and THEIR taxes are taking care of me.. I want to work with all my heart but I can't and I wish people would stop making me feel like a failure for being poor..

Just really depressed and hope I don't wake up tomorrow.
by Scrappy on January 5th, 2009
Well, just for the record? I hope you DO wake up tomorrow.
Whatever anyone says re: being poor and somehow matching that up to having anything to do with your WORTH as a human being? Well .. I"m going to bet if it's negative that it's coming from people who've never "been there" and thus, just don't get it!!
On the other topic .. yes .. home health aides and arranging for basics is hard work .. especially if things change (like someone leaving and now it's all messed up .. ie new people .. til you get a NEW regular). BUT .. that's not "personal". That's just how the system works. Not always fun to work with our through but it doesn't mean YOU aren't worth anything. Just a system of folks trying to match up workers and service hours. Might take 2 or 3 weeks to iron out to fill for person who left.
I hope you can hear beneath these words that while our CIRCUMSTANCES may be difficult, our hearts and souls and minds are our own .. and very much "worth a lot"!!!
