Put your ring on your finger and don't take it off.
If your ring is insured and has been appraised, it should be covered. Take a picture of the ring near a newspaper with a date clearly visable, and the appraisal in the picture. Remember, items depreciate to insurers, not appreciate. You should have the ring insured for twice the appraisal value, as the appraisal value is what you could replace the ring for at WHOLESALE PRICES WHICH ARE ONLY 50% OF THE RETAIL VALUE.
