A bullet is fired from a rifle with a horiz velocity of 500 ft per second from a height of 16ft at the same time, another bullet falls out of the gun. without obstruction, which bullet will reach the ground first? how long will it take? At what velocity?

    Both will be dropping at the same rate of acceleration 9.8 m/s/s. Little less than 1 second till both smack the dirt, providing that the fired round goes across land that is at the same elevation as that below the gun.

    Both will hit at the same time.
    T=Sqrt(2*height/g)
    g=32.174ft/sec/sec
    They will hit the ground in about 0.9973sec.
    The bullets will hit the ground at about 32.087 feet/sec

    Incorrect. The dropped bullet will hit the ground first. They would both hit the ground at the same exact time IF the curvature of the earth isn't taken into account. If you do take the curvature of the earth into account, then the fired bullet has a longer way to drop. How much further? Not much, but it's further all the same.
