There is tax on Soda in NY and 5 cent deposit on each container. How much more rape can we take?
If I lived there I would use it as another reason to cut back.
The tax they are proposing in NY (I don't know about CA) is only on regular soft drink - not diet. This is essentially another "sin" tax. The government feels it has the right to tax the things it feels are bad for you. I am so sick of the government telling me what I can and cannot do. I don't drink regular soft drinks anyway - but it still makes me steaming mad!!!
NO, I do not buy soda now it rots the enamel off your teeth.
There is already a sales tax on soda in California.
Both diet and regular sodas are already taxed in Pennsylvania. I also like plain and flavored seltzers. I like the diet and almost all seltzer flavors. They're taxed too.
I don't mind paying that nuisance tax. I pay the taxes. Then I enjoy the products.
Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

No, but I won't pay what they want or them now. :P
Yes. I can't live without Coca-Cola. I started with it in my baby bottle. I was born in the town where it was first bottled (Vicksburg, MS), as compared to being served only as a soda-fountain drink prior to that.
Time to put an end to their ignorance. Politicians should be put out of business.
