Have you ever been on a tour that included a tour guide or independent tour tape to listen to? What & where?

I've been on that tour in Washington, D.C. and yes, have toured inside the National Cathedral too. Been a couple of others too to see all the monuments, etc. Also hit the Smithsonian. But it's the trolley tours were you have the tour guides telling you interesting things.
Never been to Alaska or Hawaii, but the latter is on my "wouldn't it be great" list.
I love the red bus tours you find in many cities .. that give you an "on /off" tour and overview. I've done them in lots of places ... from Boston to Philadelphia. Really interesting .. and if you hit a good tour guide, can be really FUN too.
Full circle? Washington DC is a tourist delight!

Never been to Australia, but it would be a great thing to do, I think.

Aaaahhh, wonderful.
Been to Washington D.C. a few times and seen many things, but have never taken the White House tour. Would love to do that.

i liked it okay, a bit crowded but my friend's mom works as a guide or shall i say worked (seeing as she will be replaced when Obama takes over) we got a private tour after all the congestion was gone. i loved it! especially all the pictures on the walls! all electric! and they change.

the Pentagon was weird to get a tour of. Its smaller then it looks but the courtyard is HUGE. and it has "the worlds deadliest hot-dog stand" in the middle of it.

Lovely that you got to see the White House under low key conditions vs in the midst of a fast moving crowd. Don't understand about the pictures though. They're a changing digital display?

they are digital frames that the picture changes automatically. it is of the first family of course. i just like the idea of it. its freakin' awesome. the worlds deadliest hot dog stand is a stand the soviets thought was a nuclear launch site because of the architecture of the pentagon, seemingly protecting it. they focused countless satellites on that one hot dog stand thinking the us was gonna launch a missile from there when all that was happening was ppl were going in to get a hotdog lol.
