    it's in the facial expressions.

people tell me I'm a storyteller with the way I tell my stories.

It also helps that I a tend to LOL at myself all the time -- so they may be laughing AT me more than anything, but I don't mind. A laugh is a laugh. One less person frowning.

It takes practice, practice, practice! I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, so it would be hard for me to tell you how to correct it. I know that the funniest people I know are those who don't tell jokes, but make up ones on the spot. They go through life like it's one big ab-lib. They also, have no social filter. They say whatever pops into their head, as soon as it does. It doesn't make them the most politically correct people to be around, but it DOES make them the funniest.

It has to do with timing, the look in your eyes, the look on your face, your body language, your tone. Really funny people make it look easy because it comes more naturally, but you can hone the skills if you have the basics.

Don't tell it too slow, use some enthusiasm in your voice, but don't over do it. Make sure to keep somewhat of a straight face. Some people have that wit about them and others dont. Its fine either way, there has to be both types of people in the world or who would be the one listening to the jokes?

First rule of comedy is that you're never as funny as you think you are.

The great comedians make it look easy but there is a lot more to a comedy routine than just winging it.

  • I always keep a straight face and put on an air of vague disinterest. If all else fails I pretend to be an ape and make toilet noises (with my mouth).

Make sure you know how to laugh at yourself first.
