He will not be permitted to join the army. If not a citizen, you must be a legal permanent resident to serve. Marriage is no longer a gateway for citizenship either. He will still be required to leave the country and apply for the visa at the US consulate and THAT requires a criminal background check.
I'm surprised he wasn't deported immediately after he served time for his felony. That is now the practice.

You're reading My boyfriend is a non US citizen and is living here in the US illegally. He has applied for residency here twice and been denied both times because of a felony. If he joins the army or if we get married will he be able to apply again and be approved?
