What does standing water on the passenger floor of a 94 Grand Am mean

    It can be caused by several things.

    The most common cause is condensation from the air conditioning coil. You've probably seen the dripping water under cars during the summer -- this is from the tube that drains the AC coil inside the duct. If that tube becomes clogged or restricted, the water ends up dripping on the inside, and since the coil is almost always located on the passenger side, manifests itself as puddles or soaked carpet on the passenger side floor.

    Other less common sources are: a leaking windsheild seal, bad passenger door seal, or bad passenger window upper seal.
