Allergic to sex??? I have never heard of that one but I know there are women out there who are allergic to certain types of semen and condoms.

Some people have a very serious latex allergy. If you were using regular condoms rather than a hypoallergenic alternative she may actually have had an adverse reaction.

Its possible to be allergic to semen, ie causes rash and pain on contact. She could also be allergic to condoms - latex allergy is common. There could be other non-allergy reasons that cause sex to be painful. Or maybe she's just saying she doesn't want any.

I personally have a latex sensitivity and also a sperm sensitivity. When it comes to the sperm i think it has to do with what the guys eating habits are like. Also I have trouble with certain soaps... so when you sweat and it gets on your partner it could cause problems.

Allergic to sex the act, no. It is, however, possible to be allergic to the latex in condoms. It is also possible to be allergic to a particular man's semen. And if you've eaten things to which she is allergic, what you eat can be secreted in your ejaculate, and can cause allergic reactions. Also, if you eat spicy food, that can be contained in ejaculate also, and some women are sensitive to that. Kinda like rubbing a hot pepper around down there... sound like fun? Didn't think so.

All these things, however, have things that can be done about them. And if she wasn't willing to do them, she was either uninformed or unwilling to make the effort to be with you.

Here we go! In 1988, I did a one hour show for Phil Donahue on "Allergic To Spouse". My research showed that 2 out of 10 women suffer from this. When they build up their immune system, they might have a chance of it going away (as long as they stay healthy). Some women die from the anaphylactic shock. Some women have to be hospitalized. Some get injections of their husband's fluids periodically throughout their life to tollerate sex. The vagina becomes instantly inflamed, usually blisters follow, sometimes bleeding, and the only way to counteract this type of pain is to use a showerhead nossle and spray scalding hot water on the area until it goes numb. There is one doctor I know of and he is in Cincinnati, Ohio. My mother offered her 2 cents and said she had a problem but found out it was the nicotine in the fluids from my father. Hope this helps any woman who reads this!

Is it possible she was asexual? I'm asexual and always have been. I'm physically capable of sex -- I've tried it -- but I get no pleasure from it. It's just another physical act, like sneezing or having a bowel movement. Without that drive, the physical act of sex is pretty damp and repulsive. A recent study showed that as much as 1% of the population may be asexual, a far larger figure than anyone had expected. Asexuality is only just now beginning to get attention as a recognized form of genderqueerness (according to Queer Theory), and for many years I just thought of myself as a freak. Perhaps she is asexual and just unaware what to call it.

My ex was also. I found a wife who is not.

I need to amend this answer. I don't think there is such a thing as a sex allergy. However, it may not be pleasurable or there may be physical reasons it is not.
