Help answer this question below.

I have an 89 S10 Pick-up truck with 4.3L motor. My 'Check Engine' light came on because it needed an O2 sensor. That has been replaced, but I do not know how to shut off the Check Engine light. Can someone please tell me. Thanks.

    We owned a 90 chevrolet citation with the same problem. the check engine light was stuck in terminal "shine". checked out by many mechanics. engine checked out just fine. i was told that my vehicle was destined for California and their strict emmission controls. instead, the vehicle stayed in Tennessee. this made a difference.

    Mechanics suggestion? a thick piece of 3x3 inch cardboard.........to cover the warning light.

    We did it. no problems, ever.

    Most times you can disconnect the battery cable for about 2 minutes. That resets the computer and should not show the Check Engine light untill another problem arises. Good Luck

    Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. This will sometimes reset the error codes. If not, have the truck re-connected to a scanner to check for further codes, or to reset previous code.

    to reset the computer pull the ECM B fuse for approx. ten seconds then return it. or disconnect battery for 10 seconds or so.
