I am unsure on this subject. I have done a lot of reading on it, and it seems that most religious people believe it is really the wounds of chirst given to ordinary people to suffer the same as he did for our sins. On the other hand, science has gone as far as blaming the tell tale wounds to skin conditions. As of right now, I am not sure, but I lean more towards no, it is not a real phenomena

stigmata are the wounds of christ? yes i do. i believe that they are suffered by extremely religious people.

Stigmata are primarily associated with the Roman Catholic faith. Many reported stigmatics are members of Catholic religious orders. Me, personally... I do not believe in such. My personal belief is that this is the devil/satan at work. Because if God is so loving as he always says in the bible then why would he make you endure such pain?

It has been documented. Therese Neumann lived in Germany in the 1930's and had the stigmata many times in her life.People would come from around the world to see her.She was not a nun or anything like that ,just highly devout.
