You're reading Are you thankful that Hitler was born? I mean you, nor your children nor anybody around you would be here if he wasn't? Bush wouldn't be president, Saddam would still be in power most likely, Obama wouldn't be around. (Think butterfly effect)
Comments
You wouldn't be aware of anything because you wouldn't be here, unless you were born before like 1930 something.

Exactly.

Anyways, the point of the question is would you give up your life and loved ones lives, to prevent the holocaust.

My friend, the only things on this planet I would give up my life for are my children and grandchildren. Period.

SOOOO Whats your final answer to the question??
by CAPTCN on December 30th, 2008
You know what? If you could prove to me, indisputably, that my death could prevent something that happened in the past, to wit, the holocaust, I would give it serious consideration. In fact, I'll go further and say, yes. But I would require indisputable proof.
by JimmyG on December 30th, 2008
There's no proof. It's a hypothetical question. What if a time machine was invented, we went back in time, killed Hitler. But that event made the time machine never exist. WHATTTTTTTT. Parallel universes, space would implode, the rapture, who knows what would happen.

Now I have to kill Hitler and die. But at least now you're coming with me. At what point in time do we kill Hitler? At what point does he become guilty? I know it's all hypothetical. But I'm unwilling to give up my life or commit murder, even hypothetically, for a hypothetical. What if we kill Hitler at the wrong moment and the Russians come pouring in before we're ready for them? Stalin was as bad as Hitler, perhaps worse. He gave his orders directly. Hitler just hinted and left it to the gang of lunatics around him to do the dirty work.
Your original question was am I glad Hitler was born...because otherwise I would not have been. No. If Hitler's living was a prerequisite to my own living, then wind the clock back undo the holocaust and wipe my name from the future books along with Hitler's. And my original answer stands.
