I love horror movies in general, but some of my favourites are from the great Italian directors Romero, Fulci, and Argento. I'm also a big fan of the Japanese horror director Takeshi Miike.

I'm loving South Korean cinema - there have been some incredible films coming from there in the last few years. Check out anything by Park Chan Wook (Oldboy is a personal favourite, but definitely not for the easily offended!), and I also love anything starring Choi Min Sik. I love Japanese cinema too, Studio Ghibli makes better animated films than Disney by miles, in my opinion.

My favorite film (of all time) is the Japanese version (which was the original) of "Shall We Dance". Jizu Itami is my favorite director. He did "Tampopo" and "Marus no Oona". Kurosawa was great, too, of course.

Based upon where I live, my favorite "foreign" director would be Michael Haneke. In fact, he is, in general, my favorite director of the ones I've seen who are still alive and working. adn he'd be a favorite anyway. +5
