You'r computer has RAMBUS, It would be a good idea to abandon ship.
six prongs could be a lot of things, especially on a gateway, dell, or compaq which use highly proprietary parts that are not found on any other computer. Did you buy the new Power Supply Unit (PSU) from a retailer like Best Buy or CompUSA? A photograph would help a lot.

My power supply stopped working after I tried to scan with my new color laser printer on. Both heavy power users. I checked and am sure the PSU is bad. I installed a new PSU and everything powers up but I can't get a picture. Tried resetting the BIOS.

I plugged my computer into a station that was running 230v power. It will no longer turn on of course. I would like to know what will need to be replaced to repair it. I was thinking it would be the whole power supply, am I correct?

My laptop's health monitor says that the fan speed is 66%. Is that too high, and if so, what should I do?

You're reading I have a Gateway Performance 1300 Monterrey MBD about 7 years old. The power supply inside was fried by a power surge, now I've replaced the pack but there is an extra port on the motherboard with 6 prongs is there anyone out there who knows what this is
