I have a 4 month old Deer chihuahua. She has a very slender face and very slim, but long legs. She does honestly look like a small female deer.

I have the Deer chihuahua and she really does look like a deer when she stands and turns her head to look at you. The stance is the same as a deer as is the shape of her whole profile.

An Applehead has a rounder forhead and a shorter snout, and a Deerface has a flatter forhead and a longer snout. Deerface Chihuahuas faces look just like a Deer's face. That's were they get their name. If you want a better look, type Applehead and Deerface Chihuahua pictures in your search bar, and it will bring up sites that have pictures of both.

'Deer' chihuahua's are slimmer limbed and pointier featured.

For a Chihuahua to fall into the apple head category, it must have a dome like head, which is broader at the upper part of the skull than the lower part in the jaw area. Its forehead will rise off from the muzzle at nearly 90 degrees, and at the top of the skull is a slight depression. This is called a molera, and may disappear as the dog gets older, but may well remain there for the rest of its life. All of this will give the head an apple like appearance, hence the name.

A Chi is considered a deer head Chihuahua (it is sometimes also known as a reindeer Chihuahua), if does not have the characteristic apple shaped head. The deer head Chihuahua will tend to have a sloped forehead, longer nose, a more pointed muzzle and jaw line, ears which reach out, and the shape of its head will generally resemble that of a young deer.
