How is it that John Madden was able to become such a staple in broadcasting if very few like to hear him talk?

    A good agent probably, and he also is very controversial, which makes people watch. People like to see him get angry, say things that are inappropriate or stupid or funny, etc. It makes for "sensational" broadcasting. Like the tabloids, only it is on TV or radio. Just like people disliked Howard Cosell (many did anyhow) especially when he got older. But they still watched him and listened to him!

    because he was a great coach.lol i wont lie ,ke is anoying after playing madden for 16 yrs..lol
