type Shift+Enter to enter a line.
by pressing ENTER only will start a new paragraph.
If you do not want to press shift+enter all the time, you can download script from the following links.

I didn't download any hotkey that the link mentioned. I just remind myself to press Shift+Enter to start a new line.

Hope outlook can fix this as quite many of us is not use to hit shift+enter.

Thanks for the useful responses. Having researched the subject further, thinbgs are a bit more complicated. I send my emails in HTML format. The double-spacing effect is caused by the way Outlook creates line breaks in HTML and how other email client programs (or browsers) interpret them. More specifically, when you press <ENTER> ("hard return") while creating HTML email, Outlook inserts a paragraph tag (<p>) with a blank line before the next line of text which appears double spaced when rendered in a browser or other email clients. So, if you use two <ENTERS> you end with double-spacing twice. If you do not want a blank line inserted, such as between paragraphs, use a soft return or break by pressing SHIFT+<ENTER> which creates the line break tag (<br>).

If you mean double space, in that case, you can resolve the issue by clickin on Single Space under option. I have uploaded a screenshot of the same. Please click on the below link --> http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1294/outlookat2.jpg

Is it where you hit the return key? If so, that is called a 'hard' return. Try a 'soft' return, which is 'ctrl+return'. It will give you just one space.
This is a setting used in many page layout programs.

do you mean an actual line like this:======================= ; or do you mean a double space?...in any event, it's usually in the settings...if you have technical support with your internet service provider; they can help you fix that issue.
