You are being verrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy reasonable. Teachers and daycare people are ridiculous when it comes to crap like that.
-
If you are unhappy with the day care then by all means you are not being unreasonable. However with all the law suits against day cares being negligent I don't blame them. It is sad.
-
That's insane...I've never heard of such a rule. Is it just no running inside? No running inside is a matter of safetty and a fair rule, but no running at all... Do they get to play on the playground?
-
Kids are supposed to run, jump, and have fun.
-
Are you saying they don't allow running indoors or they don't allow running at all (indoors or out)? If it is just indoors where they discourage running then I say that is very reasonable, as they are just trying to maintain a sense or order while minimizing accidents. And if this is the case, If I were you, I would feel confident that the daycare has the childrens saftey in mind. On the other hand if they have a rule againt running out of doors, then I would say thats a bit extreem, as children do need (and want to) run while playing, its good excercise, and excercise should be a part of any day care program.
-
No you're not being unreasonable but you have to understand that safty is the #1 job as a daycare provider...myself being one! But as far as time outs go I dont beileve in them and your child should be re-directed to somthing else and they should be able to talk and work through it w/him/her and not just take them out of the situation all together!
-
Of course you're not unreasonable. All of the daycares should allow all of the kids (however many they maybe) to run around uncontrollably like wild horses. When/if one of the brats gets hurt in the process, you'll be the first to claim that they shouldn't have allowed the kids to run around in the first place and sue them
-
That is outrageous! I don't understand this mentality of "let's make the kids sit still and read books all day" kids are suppose to be active! If they would let the kids get their energy out, they would be much happier than trying to suppress them all day. I wouldn't even think twice about finding another daycare.
-
Structure activity is needed its the unsuperviised ones any concerns you have by all means seek another day care center to torture a childs need to run is crule, but find facts about rules and other parents opinions, but your childs safety, professionle carew should always be first on your mind no matter what,if he throws a tempertandrum when approachng his dy care center it may be a red flag worthy of fact finding. My daughter has a daycare center who has a comera on your child and by your pc you can check on your child at any time.

ruke against running full stop or just inside? prehaps there is not enough room for them to run safely through the builing and opsticals? if there is a garden or play ground (which off course there should be) they should have supervised freedom to run if they so wish.
-
If you aren't happy with this daycare, you should find another one. Daycare is very important and it should reflect your views on childcare or things just won't be consistent for your child. Good luck. I also know how expensive daycare is!!

More reason for not trusting others with the well-being of your children. ;) It is right that they should not run indoors. But there should be plenty of room outdoors where they can run. How do you develop properly if you can't run around? The whole point behind children being small is so they don't break anything when they fall over. They cry in pain but then they pick themselves up and their little bodies have just learnt another important lesson about balance with little to no damage to show for it. How on earth do you get children to sleep at night if they haven't burnt off all their excess energy during the day? F%^&*$#@ the day care. Be your own day care (if you can. If not then try to figure out how you can - good luck!) No one ends their life wishing they had have spent more time at work and less time with their three year old child. I hope you find a better way.

I have an outside running rule in my house, of corse they need to excercise, have fun and learn to use their gross motor skills, but i have an outside rule.
-
I think they're trying to tell them not to run in the house! But I do think that at daycare a kid should have freedom to run and play as they please!
-
Well my first reaction is that is utterly stupid to disallow running but I'm also wondering where is it they don't want them to run? If it's running in the house where they could trip & hurt themselves I can understand but if outside I'm back to thinking that is stupid. Kids need exercise & time out for that is crazy.

Who in thier right mind would make up such a rule for a daycare? I hope you found a new place to take him to.
