Not real harmful but they do say they can cause your heart to speed up and headaches you don't need to drink very many of them! Hope this helps some: "High levels of caffeine might cause the heart to race in some individuals," Chapkin said. "Also, the drinks are loaded with calories, so you had better exercise a lot or you can gain weight." Some nutritionists are also concerned with the extreme levels of B vitamins present in the drinks. When taken in large doses, they can cause rapid heartbeat, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Excessive caffeine has been linked to complications like interrupted sleep, headache, anxiety and further problems like increased heart rate and blood pressure. According to the American Dietetic Association, the average person should not have more than 300 mg of caffeine a day. Rockstar and Amp have 75 mg of caffeine per 8 ounces; however, Rockstar is only sold in 16-ounce cans, meaning the whole can contains 150 mg of caffeine.

Are there short-term dangers to drinking energy drinks? Individual responses to caffeine vary, and these drinks should be treated carefully because of how powerful they are. Energy drinks' stimulating properties can boost the heart rate and blood pressure (sometimes to the point of palpitations), dehydrate the body, and, like other stimulants, prevent sleep. Energy drinks should not be used while exercising as the combination of fluid loss from sweating and the diuretic quality of the caffeine can leave the user severely dehydrated. Anything with sugar or acid (both in energy drinks) can hurt your teeth.

Yes. There's been studies done to prove this.

Yeah they are very harmful. Some people like myself are more prone to harmful effects like anxiety and restlessness. Honestly, these drinks make me feel like I am freaking out at times. They leave me feeling a hard crash and a need to drink more caffeine to stay up at work. They are loaded with sugar and can cause long term health complications. In all honestly, I am better off smoking a bowl or marijuana and drinking a couple beers everyday than to drink one energy drink a day.
