I had a "volkswagon beetle" that was made of metal, battery operated, and you could see the "motor" in the back. Thing must have weighed 5 pounds..lol. I'd love to find one now for my daughter. Back then, toys were made to last.

Any toy from the 30's, 40's, or 50's would be FAR superior to any toy today. They were made of steel and not plastic so they lasted. The toy pistols were so real you'd get shot for having one today. Cap guns were really fun. BB guns. The bicycles were sturdy although the mountain bikes look like fun. I haven't seen a kid play hop scotch or hide and seek or kick the can in 30 or 40 years. Of course, those games are free and you have to get off your butt and go outside and play them.
