  • For me, it's below freezing.
  • I've gone camping in the snow before. And it was too cold. I would say 40 degrees.
  • I camp in blizzards, LOL, Never.
  • If you have the right equipment it is hard to get too cold. Once you get past the danger point of around freezing it gets easier. The hardest point is around freezing when you might get wet. Once you don't need to worry about getting wet it is easier to stay warm.
  • If you are serious about this question and really are curious about a full answer you need to read "The Winter Wilderness Companion" by Garret and Alexandra Conover. They actually live in a tent - in Maine. They run a quide business including canoe trips and snowshoe trips in Maine and Canada. The book explains how to survive and be comfortable in bitter weather. They are strong believers in natural materials and shun the modern plastics. They have traveled outside all winter in Maine and Canada. I was on one of their guided canoe trips. They are truely an incredible couple.
  • below freezing is uncomfortable for me. theres a certain joy thats lost for me when my eyeballs freeze in their sockets. so alaskan wilderness adventures in the winter are out ~ sounds like a donner party waiting to happen.
  • for me it is below 55
  • I think a lot depends on what you consider camping. Surely you can sleep comfortably in a quality tent in almost any temp. To me camping is a voluntary excursion to go have fun and enjoy the outdoors. Even with full on winter gear anything colder than 25 and/or if it is super windy crosses the threshold of enjoyment and becomes more of endurance and survival of the elements. This can be OK if it is for training or scouting but shifts outside my definition of camping for enjoyment. Camping in the winter is awesome as wherever you go, you most likely will have the place to yourselves - very peaceful.
  • Depends completly on your desire and your eqipment.
  • When your beer starts to freeze.
  • Below freezing is no fun. Can't even keep your water a liquid. I woke up one morning and it was 5 degrees. I thought I was going to die when I got out of my bag and started putting my clothes on. That's the one time I was ever concerned for myself outdoors.
