I'm assuming this is besides chaining him to the bed? (Just kidding). I have heard they make a top for baby cribs that keep a toddler in. I really don't know anything about them though...and I would sure want to know that they are easily removable in case of an emergency.

There are several excellent suggestions in the "How to Articles" at the bottom of the page. My son said he was advised to sleep the first few nights with the toddler, and then simply put him back in his bad for as many times as necessary after that. When said son was a toddler, he slept with us until around age three, then was so thrilled when we moved to a house where he had his own room and his own bed, he stayed there entirely on his own, except I always laid down with him until he fell asleep.
